Day One:

Mountain Stream Kishimoto, Tottori: Our journey kicked off with a visit to Mountain Stream Kishimoto in Hoki-cho, Tottori. There we met my old friends’ family. The crystal-clear waters of the river offered the perfect playground for our little explorer. Watching my son connect with new friends as they splashed around and shared giggles was heartwarming.

Day Two:

Immersed in Photography at Shoji Ueda Museum: After our comfortable stay at Mercure Tottori Daisen Resort, our next stop took us to the Shoji Ueda Museum of Photography (5 minutes drive from the hotel). This local gem showcased the incredible works of the renowned photographer, Shoji Ueda. His images captured the essence of the region and its people. Walking through the exhibits was not only visually inspiring but also a chance to know the cultural history of Tottori Prefecture.

Drive to Izumo, Shimane: A one-hour drive from the museum didn't seem too far for my kid, and before long, we found ourselves in Izumo City, Shimane. As it was approaching lunchtime, we opted to take a break at the Coco Ichiban Curry restaurant. This eatery is popular for both dine-in and take-out options. True to form, my kid selected a children's meal that came complete with a toy.

Fun Afternoon Activity for Kids: After satisfying our appetites, we headed to the Izumo Science Museum. The excitement in my son's eyes was contagious as he engaged in interactive science activities. From hands-on experiments to mind-boggling exhibits, the museum was a playground of knowledge and fun. Learning became an adventure as we discovered the wonders of the universe together.

Day Three:

Early Morning Stroll: Starting the day with a leisurely stroll around Izumo Station and a hearty breakfast at Centurion Hotel was the perfect way to soak in the local atmosphere. Izumo is known for its historical mythology and stage of the legends. We found the little statues of the legends on the street.

Journey to Nima Sand Museum: In the heart of the expansive pyramid stands a magnificent hourglass, measuring the passage of an entire year. The museum itself was crafted by the renowned architect Shin Takamatsu, a native of Nima City. Beyond the captivating hourglass, more of other artistic sand exhibitions captured our attention, compelling us to spend nearly two hours immersed about sand. Alongside admiring the sand art, we also participated in their sand workshop.
