Persimmon Jam
Delicious Homemade Persimmon Jam Recipe
This sweet and flavorful jam is perfect for spreading on toast, pancakes, dolloping on yogurt, or even as a unique addition to your cheese platter. (Yes, I tested it with cheese and it’s very tasty!)
Here is a very simple process and easy-to-make jam recipe for your fall - winter table!
RECIPE
Servings: 1 medium size jar
Time: 2-3 hrs + 10 minutes preparation
Ingredients:
6-7 pieces medium size persimmons
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 piece lemon to squeeze
Instructions:
Start by peeling the persimmons and chopping them into small pieces. Remove any seeds.
Place the chopped persimmons into a pot. Add the sugar and fresh lemon juice.
Turn on the heat to low and allow the mixture to simmer.
As the persimmons release their juices, you'll start to see foam forming on the surface. Carefully remove this foam to ensure a smooth consistency. Continue simmering until the liquid thickens, and the jam starts to take shape. To prevent burning and ensure even cooking, stir the jam every 15-20 minutes.
After about 2-3 hours, you'll notice the liquid reducing, and the jam thickening. Once the desired thickness is achieved, turn off the heat.
Allow the persimmon jam to cool slightly before transferring it into sterilized jars. Seal the jars tightly and let them cool completely to store.
